Street Kids

Presently 38 street boys meet up with us on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon for a training session and then game of football. Football really is universal language. Being part of a team has given the boys the sense of belonging and a purpose to a otherwise chaotic and unorganized existence. Arms of Love F.C. now plays in leagues against other teams and this has given the boys even more of a sense of self worth. The boys were given our own strip with Arms of Love written across it last year and they wear the kit with such pride.

•  After each session the boys are given a nutritionally balanced meal and chance to hang out and talk with team members . This is sometimes our main contact during the week with some of the boys and lots of the basic care aspects, minor injuries, social problems are handled at this point.

WHAT ABOUT THE GIRLS!??!?!?

Basically it isn't safe to leave a little girl on the streets so Arms of Love try and place all girls within safe families as soon as they are discovered.

Project House

•  The Project house is a facility where we can house the boys who have come off the street and need a permenant home with a house parent so they can go to school, do their homework, live, play and be loved safely. Currently we only have one house and other boys and girls are living with family members or in project team members houses

Family Support

•  Many of the families we support are widowed mothers or Grandparents looking after their orphaned grandchildren. These responsible adults work hard, but often don't even earn enough to pay for rent on the simplest of properties let alone basic food or school fees, books, uniforms, shoes and clothes.

•  We believe every child should have these basic needs met and by keeping families together we believe in helping to maintain a better enviroment of love and support for these children to grow up in.

•  Arms of Love Zambia provide counseling and support for families to overcome any obstacles hindering this.

•  Arms of Love Zambia will try and facilitate any training or employment problem needs, we were able to get hold of a sewing machine for one of the grandfathers who used to be a tailor so that he could start providing for his family again. We try and liase employment and training opportunities for people.
